Teaching at the University of Michigan
María is an Associate Professor of Architecture and Urban and Regional Planning and Director of the Master of Urban Design at the University of Michigan Taubman College. Her teaching includes graduate design studios and capstones, interdisciplinary seminars and workshops in architecture and urbanism, and incorporate experiential learning components in partnership with local actors in a multiplicity of geographies across the Great Lakes Region, Latin America and Europe. The courses trace themes, methodologies, and design approaches similar to those present in her research and creative practice and introduce urbanistic concepts to students with diverse academic and professional backgrounds.
